Ji-yeon Kwon is a Melbourne food writer who has been avoiding her grandmother's Korean restaurant for years - and herself along with it. When a contaminated delivery shutters Kwon's Restaurant temporarily, she uncovers a pattern: a company called Provenance Plate has been visiting immigrant community restaurants across the city, charming families into signing consent forms that quietly transfer the rights to their undocumented, generations-old recipes. What follows is equal parts investigation, homecoming, and slow-burn romance with a methodical detective running a parallel case. At its centre is a simple truth: the recipe was never lost - it just lived in the wrong place to be stolen.
