Amal is a child who is confined to his adopted uncle's home by an incurable disease. The construction of a new post office prompts Amal to imagine receiving a letter from the King or becoming his postman. Amal is mocked for this, and the illiterate child is fooled into thinking that a letter from the king promises that his royal physician will attend to Amal. However, the physician really does come.
