About
Five mudlarkers. One club. Countless unexpected discoveries...
Gemma spends her days working as a nurse and her weekends mudlarking—searching for historical objects by the River Thames. But when her husband suddenly announces that he has met someone else and their marriage is over, the foreshore becomes the only place which provides her with comfort and calm.
Gemma loves the solace the river brings, but after a chance encounter with fellow mudlarker Phyllida and metal detectorist Nick, Gemma unexpectedly finds herself becoming a founding member of The Mudlarkers' Club. To boost numbers, she recruits retiree Timothy, and his troubled foster granddaughter Leila.
As they bond over the wonders of the past, it's the present they all need help with: Phyllida's husband has a gambling problem, Timothy has mobility issues, Nick's grieving for his father and Leila has fallen out with her foster parents. Opening up to each other about their personal lives, they give each other advice and moral support. Yet whilst none of them expected the club to bring friendship and community, neither do they anticipate an even more priceless discovery.
