In this vivid and compelling memoir, Rulka Langer tells of the horrible advance of the Wehrmacht into Poland in 1939. Thrown into the chaos of war-torn Warsaw, she recounts her struggle to survive as rumors of atrocities fly thick and fast, and she attempts to keep her family of two young children and an ailing mother together. A fascinating snapshot of the advent of the Second World War.
