The MamaZen Parenting Method
Parenting with Mindfulness, Intention, and Calm
If you've ever typed "how do I stop yelling at my kids?" at 2 a.m., you're not alone-and you're not broken. In the blur of sleepless nights, school runs, and constant decision-making, even the most loving parent can feel trapped in cycles of anxiety, guilt, and reactivity. This book shows you a different way: change your inner state first, and calm parenting follows.
After postpartum anxiety and what she calls "mom rage" blindsided her, Irin Rubin, CEO and co-founder of MamaZen, built the resource she couldn't find-clear, doable steps that work in real life. The MamaZen Parenting Method is a practical, compassionate roadmap that helps you regulate your nervous system, rewire emotional triggers, and parent on purpose-without adding more to your to-do list.
Inside, you'll learn how to:
• Recognize the patterns that keep you stuck-and interrupt them in minutes
• Shift from fight-or-flight to calm using simple, body-based resets
• Replace shame and self-criticism with acceptance that actually changes behavior
• Identify your most common triggers and rewrite the cue-response loop
• Set the emotional tone for your day so you lead with clarity, not chaos
• Break generational cycles with intentional practices you can sustain
The book is structured as a journey: raw, honest stories from early motherhood; a seven-step method you can return to again and again; and real-life applications for common pressure points-bedtime meltdowns, school-morning stress, sibling conflict, and nighttime anxiety. Each chapter ends with short exercises and reflection prompts designed for busy parents (two to five minutes), so you can feel a shift the same day.
This isn't another list of tips. It's a way to feel steady on the inside, so you can show up as the parent you want to be-present, warm, and in charge of your energy. Calm isn't perfection; it's the skill of returning to center, again and again. Let this book be your guide back.
