Every state's MPJE tests the same federal core. Master it first, and you have already passed the hardest half of the exam, in any state.
The MPJE is a different exam in every state, but roughly the same body of federal pharmacy law appears on every version: the Controlled Substances Act, the DEA's regulations, and the essentials of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Scheduling, DEA forms, prescription validity, refills and partial fills, recordkeeping, and controlled OTC products do not change when you cross a state border. This is the book that teaches that shared foundation cold, so your state guide only has to finish the job.
Inside this 2026-2027 edition:
• Complete plain-English review of the federal law common to every state MPJE, in 8 focused chapters
• 80+ exam-style practice questions with full answer rationales that explain why the right answer is right and why each distractor is wrong
• Every high-yield number the exam loves: retention periods, partial-fill clocks, refill limits, pseudoephedrine caps, DEA registration periods
• "Stricter Rule Wins" boxes flagging every place a state rule overrides the federal floor, the exam's favorite trap
• Exam Trap callouts, memory anchors, and quick-reference tables (DEA forms, schedules, retention periods, PSE limits)
• Current federal law with effective dates, so you know it is up to date
Built directly from the Controlled Substances Act, the DEA and FDA regulations, and current agency guidance, not recycled question dumps. Written for PharmD graduates and transferring pharmacists who need to pass a law exam that gates their license, without wading through statute books.
Updated for 2026-2027. Pair it with your Mortar & Law state guide and you cover both halves of the exam.
