Flying is one thing . . . but landing in one piece is another thing altogether. Every Rocketman is destined to crash. But only some are willing to fly again.
Ever since he was a kid, Dan Schlund was showman-but not the kind pulling rabbits from hats. It was adrenaline he was after, and that meant spectacular feats of physical daring. To Dan, he was just a thrill-seeking entertainer having a blast. To others, he was right in between daredevil and crazy. The truth might lie somewhere in between-but one thing's certain: he was born to be a Rocketman.
In this memoir of resilience, faith, and seeking purpose through pushing physical limits, Schlund shares how his path from stuntman to medic led him to becoming one of the few remaining Rocketbelt pilots in the world. It's a story of hard-won wisdom earned through pain and self-doubt, of losing heroes and finding the hero within. It's also about a technology so dangerous as to provoke fear in any rational mind, so coveted as to inspire obsession among rivals, yet so admired as to endlessly capture hearts and minds across generations.
Many say it's a miracle Dan Schlund is alive. But The Last Rocketman shows that his risks weren't just personal-they were about setting the stage for the next generation of pioneers to take the Rocketbelt to heights unimaginable.
