The Hunter Hercules, or, The Champion Rider of the Plains

This novel set at first in Texas opens with a young man by the name of Chauncy Branrare riding through the prairies. He has come West from New York for an adventure. Suddenly he hears a woman's scream and dashing to the sound, comes face to face with a black panther about ready to spring at a young girl.
