The members of the Criminology Society are invited to review the pre-opening of a new resort by a friend of Mr Wood's. Together, they all go for a weekend of emulated tropical relaxation in the British countryside along with Inspector Daniels. Intrigue abounds when one of the resort's residents is brutally slain in his room, and the only witness to the crime is the victim's pet African Grey parrot. The Criminology Society must once again pit its diverse skills against death and conspiracy, which could threaten more than just the lives of those in the Living Mirage resort.
