"Starr King in California" is a tribute to Starr King, a Unitarian minister and California citizen who strongly opposed the ideas of California's separation from the United States. Abraham Lincoln credited him with stopping California from becoming a separate republic. It is believed his passionate speeches touched the hearts and minds of citizens, making this man a national hero.
