Finally, a book about the game of golf as you play it. This book is not about great professional players past or present. It is not about the world's great courses. It makes no claims that you will be a better player after reading it. This book is about you and the game as you play it. In this whimsical collection of essays, author Jeffrey Thoreson writes about his 30-year journey through the game and does so in a way that relates to anyone who has ever taken up golf. If you have ever hit a shank, missed a three-foot putt, played alone on a rainy afternoon or as a single with three others you have nothing in common with, you will find humor and solace in these essays. The Game: Chronicles of a Golfer Not Yet Finished brings a fresh voice, a different perspective and a new approach to golf writing. "When I started playing regularly after college, I couldn't break 100; didn't know the rules; scavenged the woods for stray balls so I'd have enough to finish the round," Thoreson writes. "Twenty-five years later I tried to qualify for the U.S. Amateur. The writings in this book are reflections of my experiences along the way … I wrote these essays about my journey, but they could just as easily be about your journey." The journey is our lifetime search for the unattainable – the mastery of the game of golf.
