About

# THE GALARDOS - Book Description

At eighteen, Scott Galardo came home from work and found his parents on the floor. He called 911. Then he kept living, because there was no other choice.

He grew up in Las Vegas with a violent father, a saintly mother who sang *Frosty the Snowman* at bedtime, and a brother named Ricky who wrote his own songs at seven years old and never made it to eight. He parked cars at Caesars Palace at sixteen to put steak on the table. He rode a dirt bike through the school library on a dare. He survived things that were supposed to break him.

They didn't.

He drove into the Mojave, into Joshua Tree, into silence. Two Dobermans. A sky full of stars. And a faith that put him back together from the inside out.

Then came five children - not born to him, but chosen by him, fought for in courtrooms, one at a time, over nearly a decade. Every time the state was ready to scatter them, Scott showed up and said the same thing: *these are mine.*

He built them a home. A swing set. A skateboard ramp. A dinner table where everyone prayed and everyone was heard. He gave them his name - a name he had dragged out of wreckage and made worth carrying.

He broke his back on a warehouse ladder. Lost three houses. Buried people he loved. Never stopped.

*The Galardos* is a memoir about what it costs to build a family from scratch - and what it means to refuse to let it fall apart.

**Some men survive. Scott Galardo
built something.**
