Ross compares reading The Fourth Brother and life in the 60's to what her generation enjoyed reading in the Little House on the Prairies stories. As a young four-year-old sister, Krissy feels like she's one of the boys, The Fourth Brother in fact, as she absorbs the essence of boyhood in her brothers' care! Join in the rollicking times of the young Brune siblings as they adventure through the lazy days of summer in1960 rural Minnesota. Living on the edge of an eighteen-acre wood which shares a neighboring graveyard, they have trees to climb, forts to build, and TROUBLE to get into. Kids will be kids no matter what era it is, and you may feel like you're one of them as they entertain themselves with the items they find at hand. When the excitement of a clever new idea pops up in the group, Mike, Rich, Tom, and Krissy begin to brainstorm using every skill they can muster to bring their plan to life! Rifling through a garage full of their Father's construction tools and supplies, they work together to create the special ingredient that provides the finishing touch for their army games. In the process of fun and labor they learn some helpful life lessons but also must face the tough consequences of their unbridled enthusiasm.
