942 A.D.-Normandy is a battlefield of men and gods.
Based on historical events, The Dane is set in Normandy during the aftermath of William Longsword's assassination-a moment when the young duchy stood on the brink of collapse. Aided by his trusted companion, King Harald Bluetooth, Bernard the Dane governs Normandy as princeps until its heir, Richard the Fearless, comes of age.
Amid this political turmoil, ancient myths come to life. The Sword of Spirit-the legendary blade of Saint Michael-lies lost somewhere in Normandy, drawing celestial beings into mortal affairs. Among them is Amon, once man, once god, now demon, who hunts the sword on behalf of forces seeking a new world order through Ragnarök. As divine powers converge upon the war of men, the fate of Normandy becomes inseparable from the celestial struggle over this sacred weapon.
Blending rigorous historical research with powerful fantasy, The Dane crafts a sweeping tale of faith, love and treachery, and the enduring conflict between good and evil.
