The Creature Within

I keeled over as pain ripped through my chest. My fingers dug deep into the earth beneath them, desperately trying to steady myself, as my body shook uncontrollably. I dared to open my eyes and saw my skin bubble and change colour. A painful scream escaped my lips as my bones snapped and reformed under my now dark grey and leathery skin. Tears streamed down my face and I panted through gritted teeth.
The shift was over quickly.
I pulled my hands from the dirt and beheld the long spindly fingers in front of me, razor sharp talons where my nails once were. A low growl sounded from deep within my throat...
