About
In the heart of Chicago, young and ambitious Mayor Bryant Johnson fights to protect his city's reputation as tragedy strikes during the biannual Xi Xi Eta sorority convention. When socialite and sorority Vice Principal Belinda Garlin-Green is found dead, the city is thrown into chaos. With 40,000 diverse members gathered at a luxurious hotel along Chicago's Magnificent Mile, the stakes couldn't be higher. The city's female Chief of Police, Lorenda Sanders, leads the charge alongside Detective Richard Ponder and his elite homicide team. Their mission: solve the case in four days before the convention ends and the attendees disperse, possibly taking vital clues with them.
Detective Ponder, a no-nonsense investigator, reluctantly teams up with Carla, a gifted civil rights attorney and sorority executive board member with a secret-her clairvoyant abilities. While skeptical, Ponder becomes intrigued by Carla's uncanny insights into the murder. As they unravel the web of lies surrounding Belinda's death, they uncover salacious secrets, forbidden affairs, and betrayals that threaten to destroy the sorority's polished facade.
Sha'ron Clark, Xi Xi Eta's Principal, must navigate the fallout of Belinda's murder while contending with the sorority's fractured leadership. As Sha'ron's adversary, Belinda had a contentious relationship with her and unresolved tensions with five other board members-all of whom are prime suspects. Behind the glamour of the sorority's Greek culture lies a cauldron of ambition, betrayal, and forbidden desires.
Carla's visions reveal unsettling truths, while Sha'ron faces mounting pressure to maintain the sorority's mission of empowerment and justice. As the investigation deepens, shocking revelations about Belinda's personal life emerge-lovers scorned, deals gone wrong, and betrayals from within her inner circle. The battle for justice becomes a race against time, threatening not only the sorority's reputation but the safety of its members.
Amid the glamour and chaos, The Convention explores themes of diversity, secrets, sex, betrayal, and the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood. Lies and ambition collide with the pursuit of justice as the leaders and CPD fight to uncover the truth. Can they protect the sorority's legacy while exposing the darkness lurking within?
The Convention is a gripping tale of murder, empowerment, Greek culture, and the devastating consequences of betrayal, passion, and ambition.
