About

A stubborn cloud lands on Tansy's head. Her dad, teacher, and friend aren't able to remove it. Then it rains and she begins to understand.

A timely mental health children's picture book story full of love, support, and understanding as Tansy learns to adapt to a new situation.

Whoosh! When a wind blows in, a cloud gets stuck over Tansy. Everyone tries to get it off her head, including her dad, teacher, and best friend. But the cloud won't budge. Then the cloud rains on her.

Having a cloud overhead feels like the worst possible thing in the world. Until Tansy gets rain boots and an umbrella; she plants a garden and waters it with her handy, always present cloud; she even plays in the puddles with her friends! And one day another gust of wind makes a hole in her cloud-a hole big enough to let in the sun and make a rainbow.

Karen Krossing's story is inspired by her own lifelong struggles with mental health. In the author's note she writes: Some problems can be solved. Other problems cannot, and we must learn to live with them. Karen Krossing wrote comics and poetry as a kid and dreamed of becoming a published writer. Today she is the author of many books for young readers, including picture books Sour Cakes and One Tiny Bubble and novels Monster vs. Boy, Bog, and Cut the Lights. She holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and regularly teaches writing workshops.

Dorothy Leung is the illustrator of several books for children, including The Keeper of Star and The Never-ending Sweater. She lives and works in Toronto. www.doroleung.com
