Sam Watts has a PhD in cancer survivorship from the University of Southampton. He is also a trained clinical practitioner of Ayurveda. Sam has led large-scale, NHS-funded clinical investigations of people living with incurable cancers who defy the statistical odds.
Sam's research has been focused on finding consistencies in the practices that the majority of these cancer patients adopt because he believes that it is very likely that these practices will help us understand what allowed them to become exceptional. His research has indeed found such consistencies and, as an Ayurvedic practitioner, he has also realised that the majority of them fall under the framework of Ayurveda. Over the last decade, Ayurveda has become one of the most-utilised forms of complementary medicine adopted by those living with cancer.
In this book, Sam has integrated his exceptional cancer survivorship research and Ayurveda practices into a practical and easy-to-follow blueprint that will engage the body's natural ability to heal so you can live with cancer with vitality, well-being and optimism. "Dr Sam Watts has beautifully woven together the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with the modern realities of cancer care in this thought-provoking and empowering book. His focus on engaging the body's healing potential through mindset, immune support and alignment with chronobiological systems deeply resonates with my own work, especially his emphasis on survivorship and the holistic balance of the terrain. I am particularly impressed by his keen insights into patient empowerment and pattern recognition – a hallmark of Ayurveda that has stood the test of time.
'While our approaches to dietary recommendations may differ, particularly in how we address the metabolic aspects of cancer treatment, I wholeheartedly support his overarching philosophy of nurturing the whole being. Dr Watts' 5-Step Plan to mitigate side effects and enhance wellbeing will undoubtedly offer readers a comprehensive and holistic path to health. His deep understanding of the profound role that ancient herbal medicines can play in cancer care is a valuable contribution to the ongoing conversation about integrative oncology."-Nasha Winters, ND, FABNO, coauthor of The Metabolic Approach to Cancer and Mistletoe and the Emerging Future of Integrative Oncology
