Thaxton Vail has survived the perils of WW1 and returned to his small-town home of Aura. The Creede twins, Clive Osmun (Thaxton's bosum-buddy) and Osmun(surly thorn in everyone's backside), have also returned. And while Thaxton and Clive are warmly welcomed, Osmun continues to make himself persona-non-grata in the community. So much so that he finds himself black-balled from admissions to the local gentlemen's club. Deciding that Thaxton is the responsible party, Osmun sets into motion unfortunate events. Their animosity towards each other longstanding, Osmun finds his revenge in posting a troublesome advert in the paper. For all to know, the Vailholme family estate has a that 10 of the 43 rooms shall always be available for hotel accommodation to any good traveler with coin enough to pay. Long forgotten by the small town, trouble ensues when the summering community gets wind of the 'Hotel with accommodations available'. Friend and stranger alike turn up on Thaxton's doorstep, bringing with them a unwanted competition for courting his childhood crush, Doris Lane, a servant's revolt, theft, harassment, and murder. How will wealthy gentleman Thaxton overcome all this chaos, when all he wants is to spend his free time courting childhood crush?
