About
There was more muffled conversation, and a door slam. Her parents talked, voices slightly raised, Nancy could hear her mother crying. Oh no. She couldn't bear it. If her mother was upset then how could she ever possibly be happy? She held her breath, listened. She heard the door to the front room close. She couldn't hear anything now. She laid there still for a few minutes, her mind whirring to why her mother was crying. She thought she knew why, but she didn't really understand how she knew. She stared into the darkness, her eyelids eventually growing heavy and drifted into a sleep where she was at Grandmas. Her dreamy birthday had literally turned into a nightmare.
