Tech Equity isn't a trend. It's a pathway to freedom. For decades, the disability and aging services field has operated on a framework built in 1988-before the internet existed and when "independence" was measured by compliance rather than choice. Today, we face a massive workforce crisis and a generation demanding autonomy, yet we are trying to solve 2025 problems with outdated tools.
In Tech Equity, Precious "Preciosa" Myers-Brown, The Voice of Enabling Technology™, delivers a blueprint for transformation. Drawing on over three decades of leadership experience and the legacy of her grandmother, Francena Brown Hicks, Preciosa moves beyond the debate of "man vs. machine" to reveal how technology-when designed with humanity at the center-becomes a partner in liberation.
This is not a technical manual about devices; it is a manifesto for freedom. Inside, you will discover: • The Enabled Life Model™: A framework for building a life defined by Safety, Freedom, and Connection. • The Tech Equity Triangle™: A systems-level guide for States and Funders to ensure Access, Safety, and Liberation. • The Seven Freedoms of ET™: Why safety and surveillance are not the same, and how to protect dignity without punishment. • The Future Workforce: How hybrid staffing models can save the care industry from collapse while protecting Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Whether you are a state director, a provider CEO, a DSP, or a family member fighting for a loved one, this playbook offers the strategies needed to move from "keeping people safe" to helping them live free.
