What is prayer? Why should we pray? What difference does it really make? Who do we pray to: the Father, Jesus, God, or the LORD? Do you wonder if we have made prayer into something it's not? Do you have to close your eyes?
Have you asked these questions? Do you struggle with prayer? Do you know you need to pray more but find you rarely do? Do you want to know what God, not man, says about prayer? Do you want to deepen your relationship with God but don't know how or where to begin? This study is for you!
In preparing to write this study, I looked at every single Scripture in the Bible that deals with prayer. Before I did anything else I wanted to see what the Word of God says and teaches, especially Jesus Christ. Since Jesus is the God-man (100 percent God and 100 percent man), how did He pray, and what did He teach about prayer? If we are going to pray every day to God, then shouldn't we know what He has to say about it? We should, but I didn't! I have been a Christian for twenty years and never did an in-depth study on prayer until now. We are on this journey together.
Prayer is underutilized and undertaught, even though it is the basis of our relationship with God. Why? Why don't we pray and teach about it more? We will find out in this study. What about God answering prayer? How do we hear from God? That's the next study! Part 2 of Talking with God will examine how God answers prayer and speaks to us today.
