A novella of middle-class warfare, migrants, and cosy crime gone wrong. Welcome to England, the land of Brian and Eileen, custodians of a seaside villa and upholders of morality!
Live by the sea, you find flotsam. It's Brian and Eileen's mission to guide hopeless young men toward their potential.
Here they are, with a picnic on a pebbled beach, awaiting Faisal. He was nothing! And any minute now he'll have swum the English Channel!
They're ready to hug this wet and glossy young man to themselves.
It's to be a party for three, except Cameron steps through the mist behind them. He's young, Scottish, black, desperate.
