In a world full of magic, fantasy creatures, and super science, the Chosen are the god's way of recruiting new people to join their faith; by granting a person powers to fight crime, patrol the city, and sell merchandise, the gods can now be a part of the culture in ways they'd never imagined before. The top rating Chosen live lavish lives, being showered with praise and fame by everyone around them. They act in movies, they run media outlets, they help people in need, all to bring more eyes, and therefore more power, to the gods that chose them. Valley City is one of the largest cities in the country, and it has a Chosen population of hundreds, all fighting for the top spots and defending their own chunks of the city, all overseen by the government organization The GGDS, who ensures 'fair play' between the powered individuals.

When Candy Clenson is Chosen by the goddess Lorgiaia to be part of her new magical girl team, she's thrilled. All she's ever wanted was to be famous and popular; something that's hard to achieve for a farm girl who's lived outside the city most of her life. She plans on throwing herself into the job and getting as many followers for herself and her goddess as possible, to become someone for kids to look up to. Unfortunately, the power Lorgiaia gave her to use is as far from PR friendly as you can get, and every time she uses it, someone ends up suffering a fate worse than death. Her power seems useless to her, so horrible she never wants to use it again, and so strong that she she can no longer touch anyone without risking their life, isolating her from everyone around her. While the rest of her team has powers like time travel and healing to help them get famous, Candy has to struggle along with nothing but her wings, her strength, and her determination to rise to the top despite her challenges.
