While many books have been written about Super Bowl games, never has one been written about how the Super Bowl itself became the greatest sporting event created in the twentieth century. Only one person can tell that story, truthfully, completely, and in the utmost detail, and that is Jim Steeg.
Publicly known as "Mr. Super Bowl," Steeg spent almost four decades at the upper-most management levels in professional football, twenty-six of those years as the NFL's Senior Vice President of Special Events. During that time, he built, molded, guided and grew the Super Bowl from a singular championship football game into a four-day extravaganza and a beloved national holiday.
In Super! Steeg will chronicle the history, growth, evolution and behind-the-scenes making of the Super Bowl over the last fifty years, with never-before-told stories, humorous anecdotes, and poignant moments. For the first time ever, Steeg will take readers behind the NFL's velvet rope on Super Bowl Sunday, as well as all of the days, months, and years leading up to kickoff, including the meetings, debates, decision making, politics, struggles, cancellations, mistakes, crises, and chaos that go along with being the one man in charge of the world's biggest game. This book will tell the stories and circumstances that caused the Super Bowl to grow from a singular championship football game into four-day extravaganza and explain how and why it has become the greatest sporting event created in the twentieth century.
With photographs included throughout, “Super!” Includes, in great detail, the leadership, teamwork, organization, and motivation required to pull off decades of innovative, successful, and groundbreaking Super Bowls while the whole world is watching. It will contain observations and conversations of an impressive Who's Who of the NFL, Sports, Entertainment, TV, Government and Politics.
