A hilarious romantic comedy set in New York City from the UK Queen of Teen
If living in a famous art deco hotel minutes away from Central Park sounds like your idea of a pretty sweet deal - you should talk to Scarlett Martin. Having a hotel for a home really isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially when you've got no guests, no money and no prospects for any fun thanks to your parents putting you to work all summer. Luckily for Scarlett, the Hopewell is about to be shaken to its foundations with the arrival of Mrs Amberson, a glamorous travelling socialite who's planning on putting down some roots for a while - and hiring Scarlett as her assistant. With a new job, new friends, and (maybe) a new boyfriend on the horizon, Scarlett's summer is beginning to look a lot more interesting... Maureen Johnson was recently crowned the 2012 Queen of Teen in the UK-but, as it turns out, she is American. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during a massive snowstorm. After a little dalliance with astronomy (she had a glow in the dark star chart) and archaeology (she had a little shovel), Maureen declared her intention to become a writer at the age of eight or nine or so.
She is a New York Times bestselling author of ten YA novels (including SUITE SCARLETT, SCARLETT FEVER, 13 LITTLE BLUE ENVELOPES, THE NAME OF THE STAR, and THE MADNESS UNDERNEATH). She has also written many collaborative works, such as LET IT SNOW (with John Green and Lauren Myracle), and THE BANE CHRONICLES (with Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan). She writes frequently on the subject of Young Adult literature for many publications, and is well-known for her online presence on Twitter (@maureenjohnson). Maureen lives in New York, and online on Twitter (or at www.maureenjohnsonbooks.com). She's not giving that crown back. A hilarious romantic comedy set in New York City from the UK Queen of Teen Filled with Maureen's signature wit, SUITE SCARLETT's strong narrative voice will stand alongside novels from John Green, Meg Cabot and Louise Rennison Voted 2012's Queen of Teen in the UK, Maureen has a huge presence online with almost 75,000 Twitter followers Series available for the first time in the UK!
