Meet Quentin, driven by revenge against the company that fired him; drifty wife Faye; sensitive son Arthur; and smart-mouthed Donnie and Olivia, so close they read each others schemes.
When catastrophe tears the family apart, Olivia assumes the task of putting it back together: Just because something is futile is no reason to give up on it.
Also meet Rod, Olivia’s boss, burdened by an invalid father and demanding mother. Olivia has their solution, too, knowing evolution always moves from the simple to the complex.
Add Coushattan housekeeper Josephine with a penchant for setting fires, and gas station attendant Willie Virginia, on the lookout for a loose man.
Award-winning playwright Olivia Orfield (Vortex, Death Trap) labeled Subtractions Irony at its most entertaining, containing a nugget of pure enlightenment.
Award-winning author Mary Zimmeth (Course Corrections, Bed Number Ten) called it Pathos laced with high humor. A must read!
