Authoress Harriet Vane stands accused of murdering her former lover . . . using the very method employed in her latest detective novel. But Lord Peter Wimsey, amateur detective, believes there is more behind the murder than a woman scorned.
With time running out, Lord Peter sets out to prove Miss Vane innocent, and turns his attention to the estranged family of the victim-and one family member in particular, now poised to inherit the family fortune.
