What if the most loving thing you could do is stop trying to fix everyone around you? If you're the one who always rushes inâ"the fixer, the mediator, the person who carries everyone else's chaosâ"you already know how exhausting it is. Stop Rescuing reveals why the compulsion to save others isn't really about love at all, and how learning to say a single honest "no" can give you your life back. Drawing on psychology, family systems theory, and real stories from readers who put these ideas to the test, Dario Quintela shows that the mature life is defined not by our "yeses" but by what we consciously decline. This is a direct, plainspoken guide to two words that rewire everything: let themâ"and its quieter, harder companion, let me.
Inside, you'll discover:
- Why your nervous system treats other people's choices as threats to your own survivalâ"and how to interrupt the reflex - The crucial difference between support and rescue, and why one builds people up while the other erodes them - How to map the invisible emotional labor silently draining your energy - Practical boundaries for family, partners, friends, coworkers, and grown children who refuse to change - How to reclaim the grief, anger, and desire you stopped allowing yourself - A ninety-day framework, tested by real readers, for changing your role instead of changing them You don't have to carry them. You never did. Your only task is to live your own lifeâ"and let others live theirs.
