In the book by Ukrainian writer Valery Primost - three stories about the life of soldiers in the Transbaikal Military District of the times of the end of the USSR.
It doesn't matter if you are strong or weak, it doesn't matter if you are an urban intellectual or a simple rural guy. The Russian Army Juggernaut will crush you and expel you - mangled and devastated. And even if you survive, something inside you will be dead forever. This book is the story of three metamorphoses:
"Zhidyara" is about how kindness is punishable and humanity breeds hate.
"Staff Bitch" is about how intelligence is a sentence, and fear kills the mind and then the body.
"We Are Moose" is about how power opens the way to violence, and the predator eventually becomes the victim.
