Spaced Retrieval (SR) is an effective way to support individuals with dementia and other memory loss. This book takes a fresh approach to SR, teaching the innovative process step by step so you can better assist people in learning the important information needed to improve independence, safety, and quality of life. Using this proven memory-training strategy allows people to learn and store important information so that, with practice, it can be easily accessed and retrieved.
This book includes:
• illustrative case studies • forms for easy implementation (also available as downloadable PDF files) • visual cuing tools • summary of evidence that supports effectiveness
Whether you have used SR techniques in the past or if you are new to this innovative approach to supporting memory, you will find that this book offers practical guidelines, useful tools, and a research review of how SR has developed over time. Speech-language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, nurses, home care professionals, and family members at all levels of care can use SR to positively impact the lives of people with memory loss.
