Chemistry as a discipline is arguably now complete, all the major problems have been solved and there are no more great discoveries to be made. In his engaging new book, Bernie Bulkin explores the research that led to the solution of all the major problems of the discipline that existed in the early 1950s. He discusses the progress of both theory and experiment, and shows, by some anecdotal data, how chemistry has shifted from solving its own fundamental problems to making major contributions across a range of other disciplines, biology, medicine, materials science, environmental issues. The book also includes many insights into how to have a successful scientific career.
