Did you know that long ago, people didn't write with pens like we do today?
They used quills dipped in ink-just like the ones you see in pirate movies or old-timey pictures! But here's the tricky part: writing with a quill wasn't easy. The ink could smudge or drip everywhere! That's where cursive came in. Cursive writing, with its smooth, connected letters, was invented to make writing faster and cleaner. It wasn't just fancy-it was practical! Over time, cursive became the way people wrote important letters, signed treaties, and recorded big events in history. From the ancient Roman Empire to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, cursive helped people share their stories and ideas. But what if those stories were locked away because no one could read cursive anymore? That's exactly the challenge Sofia and her dog Reggy face in this book. When they find an old letter in Grandpa's attic, the mysterious swirls and loops seem impossible to understand. But with Grandpa's help, they begin a journey to uncover the meaning of cursive-and the hidden history it holds. So grab your magnifying glass, sharpen your pencils, and get ready to crack the cursive code with Sofia and Reggy. Along the way, you'll discover fascinating facts, meet important moments in history, and even learn how to write your own loops and swirls! Are you ready to unlock the mystery? Let's dive in!
