"I never thought you would be the one to try to kill me." In a voice that is raw, unflinching, and achingly beautiful, Six Steps Down recounts a life marked by violence and the search for safety. This is not a simple story of survival; it is a lyrical "inventory of wounds." Through a series of powerful, fragmented vignettes, the author explores the "trauma bonds" we mistake for love, the terror of a home that is no longer safe, and the disorienting, circular nature of memory. It is a story about the fall, and about the long, painful, and brave journey of learning to live after.
