All Taran Leven wanted was to find out what really happened when her sister, Lisa, went missing fourteen years ago. Now, she finds herself embroiled in the midst of a civil war. The country of Prera is divided. Daughter Laura leads the Order of the Mother, a powerful and influential religious organisation, and commands the loyalty of the Veils Corps, Prera's magically augmented super-soldiers. Against her is General Raynor, an underdog who leads a ragtag force of rebels from a secret location in the wastes between cities. For both of them, Taran is the key to their victory. While trying to keep control of her own burgeoning powers, Taran must negotiate espionage, battles, and politics, all of which she is woefully unprepared for. And most of all, she must continue her hunt for the truth.
