For six years, Daniel Morales has not opened a door. Wrongfully convicted, he entered a Chilean prison in the spring of 2019 - where you ask permission to wash, permission to want, permission to be a human being with a body that has needs. Now the paperwork says he walks free: out of módulo 118, back across an ocean to the United States, and into a world that artificial intelligence has transformed while he was learning not to want things on his own schedule. Sentenced to the Future is a literary thriller of innocence, reinvention, and the machine age - the story of a man who must rebuild a life in a future he never chose, holding on to faith and liberty in a society that moved on without him. Drawing on Dr. John M. Cobin's own years inside a Chilean prison and his career as a public-policy economist and AI practitioner, this novel asks what a wrongfully convicted man owes the future - and what the future owes him.
