Joe Little, an unambitious insurance clerk and henpecked husband, is unnerved to discover that, overnight, he has developed the ability to fly. His new skill enables him to observe the contradictions, excitements and mysteries of life in 1950s England. Joined by Audrey Hepburn look-alike Felicity Moon, who, to escape domestic abuse, is skilled in vanishing from sight, he embarks upon a crime spree that staggers England's middle classes and enrages the forces of law and order. The book is a delight to those who enjoy extreme nostalgia.
