Marcy Schaaf is a children's author and professional boat captain whose work is shaped by two steady currents: stories and the sea. On the page, she crafts warm, musical picture books that help young readers feel brave, curious, and cozy at bedtime. On the water, she skippers a 50-foot catamaran in Grenada, charting real routes, reading real weather, and welcoming families aboard. That dual life-pen in one hand, helm in the other-fuels Marcy's storytelling voice. She loves turning charts into journeys, ports into characters, and little travel treasures into story sparks. Her books blend geography, gentle humor, and heart, with repeating lines that invite read-alouds and sing-alongs. Marcy visits libraries and classrooms, shares sea safety tips with kids, and advocates for caring for our oceans-one small habit at a time. Whether at anchor or at her writing table, she believes the best voyages are equal parts wonder, kindness, and good company.
