DI Jessica Daniel is not having a good week. Her wallet's been nicked, the refurbished incident room is already falling apart, and a new football-mad constable is driving her crazy.
She also has bigger things on her mind. A student's body has been dumped in a wheelie bin at the back of a university building, with a vague link to an Olympic medallist and a theory that it could have been an induction which went wrong.
There's the tattooed shop raider who has her team stumped; someone attacking lone women; a chief inspector who seems to have a problem with her; and someone putting letters through her front door insisting that she's caught 'the wrong man'.
Worlds are colliding for Jessica - and, if she's not careful, someone close to her might not make it out in one piece.
PRAISE FOR KERRY WILKINSON
"A crime-writing colossus" The Sun
"A strong voice..." Publisher's Weekly
"Plotting, high drama and characterization are becoming the hallmarks of his thrillers" Lancashire Evening Post Despite two national newspaper reports to the contrary, Kerry Wilkinson is male. Honestly. His debut, Locked In, the first title in the detective Jessica Daniel series, was written as a challenge to himself but became a UK Number One Kindle bestseller within three months of release. His three initial Jessica Daniel books made him Amazon UK's top-selling author for the final quarter of 2011. When Think of the Children followed in 2013, he became the first formerly self-published British author to have an ebook No.1 and reach the top 20 of the UK paperback chart. Following Playing with Fire, Thicker Than Water, Behind Closed Doors and Crossing the Line, Scarred for Life is the ninth title in the Jessica Daniel series. Kerry has a degree in journalism, plays cricket badly and complains about the weather a lot. He was born in Somerset but now lives in Lancashire, thus explaining the climate gripes.
