Alberta and Laura have seen enough horror movies to know their small town conceals dark secrets. The horses are dying, and the land is haunted. A boy and his ailing mother need their help, and a sinister presence is following them. As they grow amidst the isolation and mundanity of 1990s rural Australia, they form an intense bond that none of the adults in their lives can understand. When one girl becomes nothing more than a spectre herself, it's up to the other to search for her amid the fog of remembrance.
Saint Laura is an enigmatic and eccentric debut novel that delves into the violent depths of girlhood, disability, and the transcendent nature of friendship.
