Volume 1 established the experiment. This volume deals with what happened once it was underway.
Nearly two hundred rookie police officers. No veterans. No one to break us in.
In my first few months on the street, I checked boxes some officers never see in an entire career-rape, home invasion, robbery, shootings, stabbings, burglaries, blizzards, foot chases, and horse chases.
These are not textbook examples or stories polished by hindsight. They are the events as they happened, told by someone who did not know at the time why he saw the world differently.
Set against the backdrop of 1970s Philadelphia, Rookie Police Experiment Volume 2 continues the true story of the Philadelphia Police Department's unprecedented decision to replace an entire district's patrol officers with rookie officers fresh from the academy.
The result is a collection of stories that are sometimes dangerous, sometimes absurd, and occasionally hard to believe-but all true.
