Peter Cruise, a calm man from Scotland, resides in Edinburgh with his whole family, including his lovely wife and two children. One evening, just before dinner, he gets stuck in an elevator and misses witnessing an unusual alien invasion of Earth. After finally getting out and navigating through the debris, he embarks on a challenging journey to find his family and discover a purpose for living in a world drastically altered to suit its new alien rulers.
