When the body of her ex-boyfriend is found floating in her backyard pool, Junie Jackson tells herself it's just a tragic coincidence. She hasn't spoken to him in years. She's happily married now, living a quiet life in the small Kentucky town of Milcreek, just outside of Lexington. She thought she had finally let the past die.
But the discovery drags her back into memories she's spent years trying to forget. Memories of her best friend, Amy, dying in a tragic drowning accident when they were teenagers. It was a night that changed everything for Junie.
When anonymous notes begin appearing at her door, Junie realizes someone remembers that night better than she does. Someone knows the secrets she and Amy kept before she died. And someone is determined to make Junie relive every terrifying detail.
As the investigation into her ex-boyfriend's death deepens, cracks begin to form in Junie's carefully constructed life. Her husband starts acting strangely, her family and friends feel miles away, and the more Junie searches for answers, the more she begins to question everyone around her- including herself.
