Porch Lights and Promises
A Southern Small-Town Romance
In the quiet town of Tanner, Alabama, Elizabeth "Beth" Miller is rebuilding her life one careful step at a time.
Fresh from an abusive marriage and carrying scars no one can see, Beth settles into an aging yellow house with a glossy red front door and a porch light she keeps burning through the night-half warning, half hope. For her young son, Jupiter, the house is meant to be a refuge. For Beth, it's a promise she's not sure she knows how to keep.
That promise is tested when firefighter Berry "Flex" Harlan walks into her classroom for a routine safety drill. Steady, kind, and quietly disarming, Flex becomes an unexpected presence in Beth's carefully guarded world-especially for Jupiter, who sees something heroic in him long before Beth dares to.
But Tanner is a town that remembers everything. Flex has a past the gossip hasn't forgotten, and Beth's family remains dangerously loyal to the man who broke her. As whispers spread, loyalties fracture, and old wounds are reopened, Beth must decide whether love is something she can risk again-or something she was never meant to have.
Porch Lights and Promises is a slow-burn, emotionally rich romance about survival, motherhood, forgiveness, and the fragile courage it takes to believe in happiness after pain. Set against the heat, hush, and judgment of a Southern town, it is a story where love doesn't arrive loudly-but lingers, steady and bright, in the dark.
