About

Jeff Soelberg guides you through the challenges of finger and partial hand amputation in Pointed in the Right Direction.

The finger and partial hand are the largest group in the upper limb amputations sector, yet society and the medical establishment recognize them the least. Jeff coined the phrase "most used, least recognized." Take a minute and think about everything you do with your fingers daily. You are using them from the moment you wake up in the morning to the moment you go to sleep at night.

Finger partial hands are over 90% of all upper limb amputations.Amounting to more than 45K in the USA each year.Of those 45K, less than 5% will receive a prosthetic device. Why is that? Lack of knowledge and education.

Jeff's amputation was the result of a workplace accident, and he has been blessed with both a manual and myoelectric prosthesis. He knows the struggles of doing things without them and the benefits of having them. He understands the trauma of the accident and the mental and body image challenges. Jeff knows the difficulty of discussing things with your family and medical professionals. He talks about today's technology and why trying to save as much as possible does not always deliver the best outcome.

Jeff Soelberg is a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life changed completely at 53 with the amputation of three fingers on his right dominant hand through a workplace accident. But instead of giving up on life, he has found ways to help others through their trauma.

Jeff will inspire you. He has not let that limitation and challenge stop him from living life to the fullest, and he encourages you to do the same.

Since his accident, Jeff has overcome physical and mental challenges by setting a world record on an indoor rowing machine, competing in many physical competitions, speaking about both mental and physical challenges, founding a nonprofit foundation, becoming a cover model, and now writing. Jeff is certain that there is something in this book that everyone will learn from.
