There is a wealth of tennis instruction books available that teach you how to hit each stroke properly. This is not one of them. Instead, it assumes you have a fundamental understanding of basic stroke production and are currently playing recreational tennis for fun and exercise. If you are among this group, this booklet is for you. It shares what I hope are some valuable tips on: • Stroke selection • Playing strategy • Court position • Court movement Collectively they are aimed at helping you: • serve more effectively • play with more confidence • make fewer unforced errors • stay in the point longer • approach the net more effectively • successfully poach • intimidate your opponent(s) • bring out the best in your doubles partner. I trust they will introduce some playing fundamentals and suggestions that will be of value each time you get on the court and ultimately enable you to: • win more points, and • have more fun. So, let's get started with Chapter 1: Make the Court Your Friend.
