Having laid to rest the Phantom, Erik Costanzi dedicates himself to his family and to his work at the Teatro dellOpera. An illness forces Meg to withdraw from the stage and Erik to hire a competent but uninspiring replacement. When Meg resists his encouragement to resume her place as diva, Erik wonders why she is reluctant.
