Sunday Times Children's Book of the Year-8-12 category! 2018
"Rollicking entertainment." -Sunday Times
"Marked by whimsical humor with a healthy dose of irony. A cast of unforgettable characters includes a brown bear that is yellow (she's a blonde), underwater ghosts, and a group of overexcited retired postal trolls…. All aboard for an adventure like no other-readers will be delighted to learn it's just the first." -Kirkus Reviews, starred review
"A harum-scarum fantasy adventure crammed with quirky action. Curious Suzy, with her thing for physics, discovers a secret railway mannered by trolls-of course they live under bridges, they are engineers-and an entire parallel universe run according to the non-laws of 'fuzzics'. That needs saving. By her. But even here, not all is as it seems." -The Observer
"When Suzy Smith discovers a grumpy troll building a railway through her house, she knows something is amiss. Soon she's hurtled into adventure as the newest recruit abroad the Impossible Postal Express. Won in a six-way auction, there's lots of buzz about this title- and deservedly so. It's an incredibly confident debut, endlessly imaginative with highly inventive world-building and a plot that is every bit as unpredictable as the train itself." -The Bookseller
"This debut fantasy is full of imaginative locales and fun twists, and readers will enjoy the creativity of Bell's world and its look at how power left unchecked can corrupt." -Publishers Weekly
"Just sit back and let your imagination run wild as you encounter amazing people and fantastical places courtesy of one of this year's most exciting debut children's authors.… THE TRAIN TO IMPOSSIBLE PLACES is a full-steam stunner and the first book in what promises to be a terrific series…. Destined to become a classic; a rip-roaring adventure full of mystery, magic, goodies, baddies, laughs, thrills, spills…. Bell delivers an extraordinary, exhilarating and inventive story beautifully illustrated by Flavia Sorrentino… a whistle-stop, action-packed journey in which the spirit of adventure and a spirited girl are the driving forces, and where the impossible really does become possible.
