Political power struggles overshadow authentic leadership in America, leaving citizens disillusioned. The absence of transformational figures raises concerns about the future of democracy and the need for genuine representation in a divided nation. In OUT, Doreszell shares her journey as a Woman On the Rise, stepping away from the political fray after years of tireless activism. From 1996 to 2018, she explored various avenues to combat institutional racism, only to find herself drained and disillusioned by the political landscape. Observing the ongoing conflict between Republicans and Democrats, Doreszell identifies a pervasive need for power that drives their actions. This struggle for control over resources and people has overshadowed the genuine leadership that once inspired change. Doreszell argues that the current political climate lacks authentic leaders capable of mobilizing the masses, with Donald J. Trump being the only figure who commands a significant and loyal following. She raises a critical question: Are Americans truly living in a functional democracy? Her experiences as a former Democrat, who once engaged deeply in the political process, lend weight to her insights. Doreszell's perspective challenges readers to reconsider the state of American democracy and the role of leadership in shaping the future. OUT is a call to action for those who seek to understand the complexities of modern activism and the urgent need for transformational leadership. Doreszell's candid reflections and bold assertions invite readers to engage in a dialogue about the future of their nation, urging them to recognize the power of their voices in the quest for genuine representation and change.
