ORUNTE: The Land of the Beginning by Pastor Adebayo Adenekan is a thought-provoking historical and cultural work that explores the origins of humanity, the early state of man, and the foundational role of Black Africans in the development of world civilization. The book examines how humanity began, the intrigues and movements within early human families, and how these movements led to the rise of ancient civilizations, particularly in Africa. It strongly argues that Black Africans were pioneers of science, engineering, medicine, astronomy, mathematics, and architecture long before other civilizations such as the Greeks and Romans emerged. Through historical interpretation, the book challenges the long-held narrative that portrays Africans as people without a significant past, asserting instead that Africa was the cradle of advanced knowledge and civilization, evidenced by achievements such as the pyramids of Egypt and Nubia. Pastor Adenekan further traces the dispersion of ancient African peoples and connects them to present-day African identities, with particular reference to the Yoruba people of West Africa. Orunte serves as both a historical re-examination and a cultural awakening, aimed at restoring pride, identity, and awareness of Africa's central place in human history as the true land of beginnings.
